Relay for Life of the Southwest Valley

The evening of October 2nd, was spent attending the Relay for Life of the Southwest Valley at Goodyear Ballpark. I have been attending this relay event for several years now, although this was the first year that it was held at the Goodyear Ballpark. Let's just say it was amazing, the facility was perfect for a relay event.

Jenn Burris, the event chair, puts in countless hours (along with the rest of the committee members) to make sure that this relay event was fun an enjoyable for all participants. All I can say is they did an amazing job!! Congrats to all of you for a job well done.

All of the teams participating set up booths around the track to try and raise more money during the evening of the relay. We stopped to purchase "Hope stones" from one of the groups.

The only down side to the evening was the wind that came in out of nowhere. On a bright side, the wind helped to keep the temperature down :)

I had the opportunity to help set up the luminaries around the track. I hope that one day all of the bags will say "in celebration or support of _____" as opposed to "in memory of _____", since that would mean we have finally found a cure for cancer.
Instead of using candles in the luminaria bags, they used glow sticks. This was a great idea; no luminaria bags caught on fire and it provided a pretty awesome glow around the track.

Part of the entertainment prior to the luminaria ceremony was a trivia contest. Let's just say, it was an interesting experience. Thankfully, I did answer my question correctly :)
